Panasonic TX42G10B or Sony KDL-40W5500...which is the best?

It's the new-age old question, Plasma v's LCD. Deep blacks v's vibrant colours. Long life v's shelf life, ghosting, burning and pixels disappearing and so on and on.

So after months of looking around, and some serious research, I'm committing myself to buying one of these sets. I have Sky+ at the moment, and won't be getting Sky HD until at least Christmas. I love sport and movies, and it needs to go on my wall so I don't get sticky little fingers all over it! I want as perfect picture as possible, even with SD, and I hate the idea of blurring and flickering grey blacks. Of course I will be checking them both out for picture quality, but I would like to hear feedback for and/or against.

Both are a lot of money for me, so it's important I make the right choice.

Thanks

In terms of (best) picture quality it would the G10. The black levels, fast reaction time from the pixels (perfect for sports etc) and plasmas abillity to show freview and SD is very good indeed. Go for the G10 smile

Rod is right, my vote goes with the Panasonic. It's plasma every time for me.

Thanks to both replies, and I did chose the G10. Saw them both in Comets, but wasn't much in it. So then went to John Lewis and the G10 looked much better and defined. Got a great price match with them too.

Turns up Wednesday...looking forward to it.
