Hi Ian, would there be any reason you would not recommend samsung le46f86? i have seen one for under £1300. At that money is there something better you would recommed? i am looking for something between 42" and 46", plasma or lcd for around this price range. I will be connecting sky/SKY HD and ps3 to it. I would like something that produces decent pictures even through normal sky.

Hi there,

I wonder if you could help me I had bought a sharp lcd television while I was living in Spain. I brought it home and when I have it plugged in it asks for a pin code???? I did not receive a pin code as the shop sent a man to install it and my sons only used it for gaming. Please can you give me advice on what to do.

Thanks

Ian, I write further to Crispy's message concering the Samsung LE46F86. I'm looking at purchasing a 46" tv and have read your reviews on the Samsung and Sony KDL46X2000. However, I cant find one on the Sony KDL46X3500. If all three tv's were equally priced, can I ask which tv you would personally opt for?

Hello,

Just joined and looking for some advise as am a little clueless!.
I'm thinking of getting a flat panel HDTV - 42".
I mainly watch sport, movies & use PS3.
Correct me if I'm wrong........
Research indicates I should get a plasma rather than LCD?
I assume I should look for the following:
Full HD?
1080 thingy!
Am I right in thinking that pioneer and panasonic are the best?
Any advise would be greatly welcomed.
Cheers
......what about this one...Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000 ?

Hello Ian,

Likewise to lcdupstart, I too am deciding between the Samsung LE46F86 and the Sony KDL46X3500. However am struggling to see the advantages of the Sony for approx. £600 more (according to the cheapest Internet prices).

Any ideas on why the Sony might be better? Comparing other reviews, the worst I'm hearing about the Samsung is the slow remote control response time.

Thanks!

Hi and hopefully you'll be able to help me.
I purchased the Sony KDF E50A12U about 6 months ago and i'm generally pleased with the results. All sound is off board and I have a JVC HDD/DVD player attached. Although quality is good I was wondering if adding a DVD upscaler would be of benefit.
My query is..... Which Upscaler?
Some I see are rated as 1080p but if im right I think the TV is only geared to 720p is this just wasting money by buying kit outputing more than the tv can handle or is it incompatable?
Obviously I would like the best picture I could possibly get to match the sound.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated, And Happy New Year to all

Hi,
I have just recently purchased the panasonic tx32lmd70 tv after it was given a good review on this web site. I am thinking about getting a ps3 for the games and the blue ray player, will my new tv be ok with the ps3 or have i wasted my money buying this tv.

archie1, the PS3's games and movies will look lovely on your new Panasonic. The Xbox 360 probably has more games at the moment, but the PS3's terrific value now if you're after a Blu-ray player (and plenty of games are on the way, of course).

Cheers for that as i was starting to get a bit concerned when some people were saying that you need a 1080p tv for a ps3

When it comes to sports, i.e. footbal, The swift movement of the ball, like entering a goal mouth, on a LCD, the ball will be blurred, but on a Plasma, The image of the ball will appear as its true form, round and clear, and diistortion free.

Hi, i have just recently bought 40 inch sony v 4000. But i have a problem. When hooked up to both bt vision and ps3 ( both using hdmi ), when the picture goes dark the whole screen goes dark and becomes quite hard to make out whats going on but when you put say the volume bar on the screen, the screen lightens up, what could be the problem as it doesnt happen on the built in digital, only when using bt vision or ps3. Help !!!!

Hello Ian recently I bought the philips 37'' 9603 model. I am very pleased with the quality but there is an issue that concerns me and I need your advise.
The main issue for me is that when I watch a movie or something else in dark scenes I can see a backlight noise (CLOUDING) in the screen, and is annoying. Is there anything I can do? Should I visit a service point or this issue is common in that type of tv and especcially that model.
Thanks in advance

I'm locking this thread.

If you want me to review a TV, put that question in the requests thread.

If you have a question, please start a new thread. This one isn't really getting looked at, so you might not get an answer.

Thanks.
