Hi,

I'm making decision to buy a new ~40" TV, but love both sets. I want excellent picture quality with smooth movement, sound quality, and long lasting. The offering prices I got are the same or these two. I already read the reviews of them, but still cannot make decision. I believe the picture quality of Phillips (with Perfect pixel chip) might be better than Samsung does, but Samsung got fantastic multimedia functions. Phillips shows the true color than Samsung which is so colorful.
The use of mine is for free tv (satellite), DVD/Blu Ray, other media sources.

It will be appreciated for your suggestion. (I just paid for the Phillips, but waiting for delivery on tomorrow).

Regards,

It would be the Samsung for me, to be honest.

Hi Ian,

Sorry to butt in - but can I ask if you noticed any clouding/backlight bleed on the Samsung? I recently purchased this TV and in very dark scenes (and admittedly dark room light) there is mild patchiness on black levels - and in corners of the screen?

Did this happen with your review?

Many thanks.

Hi MyCnet,

I did note in my review that there was some backlight inconsistency when showing total blackness. It wasn't especially severe, but it will depend if you prefer a more uniform grey to your blacks (which you'll get on a regular LCD).

Overall I didn't think it was severe enough to pull the overall score of the TV down.

The Samsung LED was one of the TVs I've reviewed that I was really sad to see go. A very nice set, for a lot of reasons.

I'd personnaly go for the samsung as well, i thought the image quality on the 7000 was briliant, all be it in show room conditions tho, Still very impressive!
