I will be sitting about 13 feet away from the screen.
So what you reckons?

Hi,

I recently went shopping with the TX-P42G10 or the Sony 40W5500 in mind. Had a good look at both in Comets and John Lewis. I have to say, and my girlfriend agreed with me believe it or not, that the G10 was better. It had more of a real colour and a defined picture compared to the Sony.

Whilst I was in Comets the salesperson, who was excellent, also demonstrated the S10, and again, it looked a lovely TV. So really in my opinion, and without being technical, there's not an awful lot between both Panasonic's. But with the 600hz, sport and movies (and gaming) are going to be that little bit better on the eye.

Like I did with the G10 and the Sony, I'm sure you've done your homework on both, and realised there are one or two differences that push the G10 ahead. When I decided it was going to be the G10, the expense was something I had to stomach. However, after a good look around, and quite a few phone calls to stores, I got a great price match with John Lewis that took over £200 off their price, which still included their 5 year warranty.

Ultimately what made me chose the G10, the more expensive TV? Yeah it could be a gadget thing (certainly the missus would say), and there are more technical details to it, but I don't change TVs until I really need to, so I need that better picture to look at for quite a few years...even though it might be only slight.

Turns up this Wednesday...can't wait. Hope this helps?
