New Telly

I have approx £800 to spend on a new television, i was thinking 42" plasma, as the tv will be used for watching documentaries, wildlife programmes and general use. i am not much into gaming or films and i wondered if anyone has any opinions? From reading this and other forums i am drawn towards a Panasonic, but i am not biased towards any particular manufacturer, many thanks
