I'll talk to Sony. These screens are quite new, so it might take a while.

How about the cashtastic Beovision 9? Not that my wallet will stretch to one in the foreseeable future or perhaps ever.

Dear Ian,

Thanks for the reviews - your well informed impressions of TVs are definitely a help when deciding on which to buy. I would love to hear your impressions of whether a 'THX certified' plasma display is woth the extra cost.

Also, I was wondering why cnet.co.uk does not provide reviews that are as technically detailed as the reviews on the U.S. sister site, cnet.com? The U.S. cnet.com reviews go through a careful, objective diagnostic battery of tests (see results in the 'geek box') so you can directly compare different TV's based not on subjective 'value' but on concrete performance criteria (and the buyer can then decide whether it is worth the price). However because even the same model of TV often has different specs here in the UK (for example the Panasonic G10 plasma is THX certified in the US but not in the UK - by the way, the cnet.com folks seem to think THX is well worth it...), it is not always possible to use the US reviews as a substitute. Plus, although I'm sure you are an excellent judge of picture quality, it is not always possilbe to capture the subtle gradients of quality differences by eye-balling alone. Maybe it doesn't matter - but why not let the readers be the judge of that?

Thanks,
a careful comparison shopper

yes deffo. i was looking for a review of the beovision 8-40.

i have the 7-40 and its feeling outdated already. Ive only heard about the 8-40 and Im not sure if its true. If it is, I was wondering what they`ve added?

ive heard there`s some kind of electronic screen curtain. eh?
sounds mad.

cheers anyway

and just to add, has that also got a clunk of a remote, like mine has?

Hi there,

I've been waiting for an LCD TV 32-37 within the £400 mark. As someone who lives on a budget, and someone who probably reflects a lot of people's outlook in terms of television purchasing, please can you review the TV's that are relevant to those who have less disposable income.

If you visit the Ebuyer, Richer Sounds and Currys websites, you will have a good idea of the TV's that I am thinking of buying, and that consumers are exposed to every day. Having reviews of those tv's would make choosing the correct LCD from sea of options much easier. For me its not about what's the best, its about whats the best option from the range of tv's that are of a reasonably priced and are available at the time.

I know you're busy but if you get the chance please take a look. I spotted the Regza reviews, but none of them shie, in fact as you might expect none of the TV's under £500 are spectacular, but if any of them are a reasonable buy then it would be good to know. There are also several makes not listed on your site, which may be in house models.

Thanks.

Hey

Please could we have a review of the new 2009 range of Panasonic Plasmas - preferably the TX-P42G10. A video review would be great as well.

Cheers

Andy
