"Having a thing is not so pleasing as wanting a thing; it is not logical but is often true..."

Let us know here if you've bought something you've been craving after. Did it live up to your expectations?

I bought star trek tactical assault for the DS. It has a few major flaws

1.) It is based upon the original (boring) series
2.) It is unrelentingly hard... on easy mode
3.) It sucks

As a lifelong trekkie, I am really dissapointed with this.

Every Thursday we get cakes given for the CNET team, and people here who do things for CNET.co.uk like videos etc. That's why Shannon was ordered to buy cake while Nick was away! She literally had no choice, bless her.

Aww.

But was it Victoria Sponge?

No, it wasn't Victoria Sponge this time. It often is, however.

I felt I needed to make an anti-pink statement on a day that already harbours so much pink-ness -- and sadly, there's some pink in the VS.

I so shouldn't have started this thread on Valentines day. Although as a testament to what I think of Valentines day, I didn't actually give it a thought.

Well, I pre-ordered a game on Steam, called AudioSurf . It's some sort of 3D racer come music visualisation game. You can use any of your own MP3's with it.

I can't play it yet, even though it's been downloaded. Although I know that the first song I put through it will be "Cochise". I'll let you know what I think.

Penguin mp3 player that comes with blank memory so you have to code the firmware in C?

Works on linux as well.

I personally hate Valentines Day. I wonder why...

I bought an HP iPaq once and it went back to PC World within 2 weeks. I don't know why but I saw my mates and had to have one, but using it, realised that it was a pointless gadget for me and I managed to swap it for a Mac Mini (which is still in use)

Until I got my N95, every mobile I've ever owned I was disappointed with, I always expect them to be better than they really are for some reason.

Yeah just a little G4, it's ok for basic net use etc. My partners mum bought it off me and loves it, she only uses the net so it's perfect for her.

How does she react to OS X?

She actually prefers it to Windows! It has been much easier to teach her OSX than Windows and the fact that everything she owns (mobile phone etc) just works with it, it's all good.

I'm sounding like a Mac advert now so will shut up
