The date is official, the invite as usual hints at the presentation's content, and it looks like new iPods all round.

There are lots of rumours floating around, from slimmer, taller iPod nanos, to GPS-enabled iPod touches, to wireless syncing with iTunes over Wi-Fi.

My personal expectation? Streaming of content from iTunes, over home networks, to iPods and iPhones.

What are you expecting?

I reckon a minor refresh of the Macbooks and perhaps larger capacity iPod touches?

New version of the classic with wifi syncing.
New touch with wifi syncing and upto 30gb capacity.

If only Steve Jobs let people upgrade thier iPod Video 30gb to a 60gb classic or even a touch with 30gb.

Redmozzy, I doubt there will be any Macbook mention at all. That said, the Air was launched last year amongst the new iPods, so we never know...

Junel, the iPod touch already has up to 32GB of capacity.

Wifi syncing would be nice. After all, you can wirelessly sync a Sony Ericsson/whatever phone with your Apple Address Book contacts/ iCal calendar but you can't wirelessly sync an iPhone. Fail.

I'm expecting smugness.

I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed.

According to a lot of the other podcasts I watch/listen to, there seems to be the feeling that there will be a refresh of the Macbooks, albeit minor ones. CNet like was talking about it the other week.

A HUGE drop in prices.

I expect macbooks to go down to at least £500.
iMac's to drop slightly also.

Also, a drop of the combo drives.

Anybody want to take a bet?

I would actually buy a Mac Book if they (significantly) lowered the price. I've always wanted to try a Mac out but i'm not willing to fork out £700 at minimum just to give it a go.

I think I might have this on the nail.

Right a new iPod nano with a wider screen for better movie support
A Summary about a new mobileme service
The Macbook touch (why? patent images showing ways you could have OS X on a touch screen It's gotta be touch)
And an American Pay as you go package*

*That one's the worst but it just seems right for apple but I doubt AT&T would agree. It will come soon though depending how well O2's PAYG package works out.

That's my two cents and I bet I've got it !

Maybe Jobs is going to announce his retirement, Bill has just gone so maybe he wanted to beat his friend/rival by a few months and go. That and he has had problems with his health, at least this Event will prove to everyone that he's not dead.

Or maybe he's announcing new Apple astral projection technology which has bought him BACK from the dead

Well, I don't think I'll be scooping anything if I say "iTunes subscription plans". Which I find kind of funny given this week's debate.

I predict Steve Jobs announcing a load of minor upgrades and the crowd of fan boys jumping up and down clapping like seals

I think I'm getting as cynical as David about Apple ;-)

Usually a few weeks later on I believe, but it depends on the product.

I'm just wildly speculating here, but what about a new improved Macbook Air? Wasn't everyone talking about a second one when the first one came out?
Obviously, the new iPods. It's very likely a new generation of nanos and touches will be announced.
Also, what about a new classic? It could do with a larger, higher resolution screen, to really set it apart from the nano and to really bring it into competition with other hard-disk mp3 players.

Of course, Steve Jobs could surprise us all with something totally unexpected, like an apple netbook/UMPC. But we all know the odds of that.

Hey I just realised in that Apple "let's rock" photo Look at the guy what's he holding? it kinda looks like the nanos that have been floating about the internet in rumours sections

There's no way they'd kill the classic, but huge updates to it are unlikely. I think when they settled on the name 'classic', they cemented that it's not going to change much from the classic iPod design. Bigger hard drives and refined UIs are a cert, but revolutionary changes are very unlikely to happen IMO.

Nate and Jason and Video Drew are on the ground as we speak, poised to cover every word from the mouth of the Jobs. Nick and I are ensconced in the nerve centre at CNET Towers with twenty-three gallons of coffee, pre-prepared graphics and Dominos Pizza on the speeddial ready to post every exciting development.

Kick-off is around 5.30 and we'll be posting through the evening. Get settled in and let CNET bring the news to you!

Will they make the Keynote available to look at tomorrow? They're always pretty entertaining.

iPod touch now has dedicated volume keys on the side and built-in speakers. 2.1 update on Friday to get the Genius feature added in.

I hope that the prices for the current/next 80GB iPod classic drops because I think I'll get one soon - getting a bit tired of my full iPod touch and because of the apps added it runs so slow now... hangs quite often as well frown
