With 2009 here, what better way to start the year than by discussing the one we've just got shot of.

So with that in mind, Nate, Kate and Nick join me to talk about our favourite stories of 2008, and in so doing, round of the year very nicely.

Thanks for listening everyone, we hope you'll stick around for another year of excitement and technological adventure.

Thanks Ian,
Just listened in, haven't quiet finished it yet, but another good show.

I haven't been very well today, but the podcast has 'animated' me twice, thanks to the red rings faux pas & Nick's comment about TotD.

When is everyone off to CES, btw?

I'm flying out on Monday AM. Rich is going Tuesday and Rory is already in the states with family.

Should be at least moderately exciting.

Listened to it earlier, but forgot to post here. Oops.

I'm currently on my second 360. My first one, which I brought in September 2006 originally broke just after the original Gears of War came out - I think the video card was faulty, as the screen went fuzzy after just a few minutes playing. So I sent that in to Microsoft (Just after they extended the warranty to a year as well, so I was lucky) who I think might have actually replaced it.

I had decided I had enough of that one a few months ago, the disc drive doesn't work properly and it kept locking up all of the time, this was around about the time that Gears of War 2 came out, so I decided "sod it" and upgraded to a 360 Elite. I'm impressed with how much quieter it is as opposed to my older 06 model, so i'll give Microsoft some credit there. Part of me wishes I waited until I got an Elite with the Jasper chipset in though. But then again, you can only tolerate losing an hours worth of progress on Fable 2 a certain amount of times.

By the way, as well as thanking Nick for the comments, thanks to Nate for the website plug and Kate for saying I'm a nice guy.

My ego feels suitably stroked. laugh

Also, with regards to Rory being an epic lightweight, i'm in the same boat. On Christmas Day I had a can of Strongbow, a bottle of J2O (Not alcoholic, I know), a Bacardi Breezer and a bottle of Babycham, I felt ill after that. And this was after a big Christmas Dinner.

Also, Rory's pronunciation of "Pokeh" during that episode was epic.

His uttering of "POKEYYH!" will live long in the memory, that's for sure.
I also remember the time I got mentioned on the podcast and Rory 'dissed me for using Linux and him having no knowledge of it (at the time).

I don't know if I'm classed as one of these "loyal members" either; I know matt, david, alan and pokeh all are, but I suppose I'm on the fringes (even though I'm mod of the mobile phones forum - which has disappointingly, albeit predictably, received less posts than initially expected due to the lack of ideas/innovation on the mobile phones front).

plus, I thought there was a competition for someone to go to CES this year? I swear I read somewhere that that was how Nate ended up working for CNET UK

True, but that was two years ago, and they didn't do it last year.

BTW, monkey controlling robot with it's mind gets my wtf vote, closely followed by big dog and Rory's three member experience.

Big Dog gets my vote. It reminds me of the Gekkos on MGS4. Especially looking at it's legs, and the noises it does.

Made by DARPA, no less. They've been mentioned in the past laugh
