Perhaps after all the recent press, Muslim Massacre has been exposed to enough traffic to send it crashing to the ground.

A computer game in which players control an American soldier on a mission to “wipe out the Muslim race” has been condemned as tasteless and offensive by British Muslim groups.

The game called Muslim Massacre, which is available as a free download over the internet, allows players to take control of an “American Hero” whose goal is to “ensure that no Muslim man or woman is left alive.”

After being parachuted into the Middle East armed with a machine gun and rocket launcher, the aim is to kill as many Arabs as possible – some dressed as terrorists, others apparently civilians.

Players progress through various levels where they take on Osama bin Laden, Mohammed and finally Allah.

Should Muslim Massacre be banned?

Allow me to pull a Rupert Goodwins and offend an entire religious group right here.

No.

No it absolutely shouldn't.

I am NOT CONDONING IT, however, freedom of speech protects everything. Even things considered distasteful.

To be honest I find that said religious group are offended easily in the first place to be honest. But then that probably applies to society as a whole nowadays.

No, it's just that when we make an honest criticism, they end up going insane.

For example, there is a book coming out which accused the prophet of Islam of being a paedophile. Now, their argument lies on someone called Aisha who was 6 or 7 at the time she was married to the Prophet of Islam, and the marriage was consummated at the age of 9.

This book was dropped from it's publishers after a stink was kicked up. It now has another publisher. One with the balls to defend someone's freedom of speech and expression from islamofascists.

People should not have their freedom of speech trampled on, because of one religious group getting butthurt, and it seems any genuine criticism is usually genuinely drowned out with death threats and burnings of embassies.

Just look at the death threats sent to Pat Condell!

Sigh. Thank god for atheism.

True. Although i've had some debates with some Catholics (Which were pretty clean as far as i'm concerned) and when I came up with something that they couldn't counter they claimed to be "butthurt" and asked for the thread to be locked, which it was. Hence why I said "society as a whole", because a lot of people seem to cry and moan over some stupid things nowadays. But I agree with your point.

Let me just share with you something personal.

I used to be a catholic, who interpreted the bible in a semi-literal form. I saw the New Testament as a literal truth. I was homophobic, bigoted and largely anti-sex. For example, I saw contraception as the moral equivalent as murder. Yes. Using a condom = murder.

Thankfully, I left that insane religion, and now I am happier, freer and a generally better person than I was.

But, the point is, religion makes people who are otherwise good do bad things.

Furthermore, it makes them impervious to reason, as I was.

But, back to Islam. A lot of the criticism levied against it was aimed at the violent aspects of it. For example, the Mohammed Cartoons made fun of Mohammed being a violent individual (See, the battle of Badr). The end result was burned embassies, terror and violence.

Also, this.

Please note, I am for freedom of religion, and I do not hate Muslims. Some of my friends are liberal muslims. I do however support my right to criticise it, which I exercise frequently.

But, with regards to the game. That is just Xenophobia and irrational hatred.

No, It's racism. Pure and simple. But it ought to be defended at all costs, even if it is abhorrent.

I completely disagree, sure some people are crazy bigoted assholes but on the whole most religious people are descent and nice. If people interpreted their religious message as it was meant, ie to love humanity etc, that would be fine but its only people who use a vail of religion to disguise a "bad" ideological viewpoint that make good people bad eg. the taliban

That's from his religion is bullshit speech, amwrite?

I am more of a Hitchens fan myself.

But seriously, life for me is so much better now I don't believe in imaginary friends who'll set me on fire if I do what is natural and human.
