I can understand the ipod advert where the apps loading are speeded up, but the latest one for the nano is blatant misleading advertising. I know they have the disclaimer at the bottom of the screen saying there lying about the quality of the screen and video yet i still feel it shouldn't be aloud. its a crappy vga camera it you watch the advert on sky HD it looks like the thing is recording in 1080I. i cant believe there aloud to make there product look like it performs so much better than it really does. how do they get away with lying about there product.

I totally agree.

In fact, I believe Apple have had their wrist slapped for a similar thing with their iPhone TV adverts.

it seems that they can get away with anything they want by putting some small print at the bottom

"what we are showing you is in no way real because if we did show you real performance you would not want to buy the product"

I did here is what i wrote

the screen resolution and quality of recording seen on the nano in the advert is completely misleading. Even though there is a disclaimer it still gives the impression that the recorded image produced by the device will be far greater than it actually is. Its still a misleading advert as the disclaimer dos not mentchen the quality of any recorded footage. At least it should say that it in no way represents the quality of the nanos video recording capability. its SO much better on the advert that its just a joke.

how do you like them apples, apple

For your enjoyment

Dear Mr *******

YOUR COMPLAINT ABOUT APPLE (UK) LTD

Further to my email of 13 November 2009 ( that i didnt respond to i was some what over my initial rage and had defiantly moved on with my life) I am writing to let you know that we have resolved your complaint about the ad for the ipod Nano.

In there response to your complaint, Apple (UK0 Ltd (Apple) said that the video footage that consumers would be able to take with tha Nano was comparable to that shown in the ad. They explained that due to technical difficulties in filming the Nano's screen, the footage shown in the ad had been filmed in a studio and composited ('comped') onto the Nano's screen in post production. Apple explained that the on-screen text, "Screen images enhanced" , had been included to ensure that there was no ambiguity for consumers about the image shown in the ad and that which can be achieved in actual use.

Clearcast (the body that pre-clear all TV advertising) carried out a demonstration of the ipod Nano before approving the ad, and confirmed that there was no difference between the image shown in the ad and the quality of the picture definition in actual use.

The CAP (Broadcast) TV Advertising standards Code does not prevent the use of techniques to overcome technical problems in filming TV ads, and because the video footage shot by the ipod in actual use is comparable to that shown in the ad we do not consider that the ad is misleading.

However, we do consider that the on-screen text could mislead consumers into thinking that the Nano does not perform as well in actual use as shown in the ad. We have therefore asked Apple to remove the on-screen text from the ad, PROPPER LOL'S and they have given us their assurance that they will do so. (i bet they have) We consider that this will resolve the complaint without referring the matter to the ASA Councill, and will consiquently be closing our file.

Please treat the contents of this letter as confidential

You gotta love that irony !!!!!!, classic. If any one at CNET or Apple (for improving there advert) think my endeavours are worth an ipod touch i would be very grateful as my little boy just popped mine in a cup of tea, i swear i was actually close to crying. So next time you see that advert without the disclaimer you can be happy to know the the two people responsible me and the Jason Jenkins who goaded me into complaining.
