as bluetooth is used on many items now, why do we not have an easy to use table. so when we buy newer items we know they will work. have been in many shops and ask what type of bluetooth that particular devise uses. every time i get a don't know. at the moment i will not buy bluetooth as the stereo in my car is 2.0, but the samsung tocco ultra i have, which should be 2.0 will not pick up or be picked up by the unit, and my nokia was not much better. has anyone seen manufacturers displaying the type of bluetooth used on there product clearly on the product before buying

I think your looking for an issue that isn't there...I do know some of the manufacturers have different versions of software in the Bluetooth, but it doesn't cause issues with compatability. For example Plantronics Bluetooth headsets have different versions of software, but this is to improve on the technology. However I have never found a Bluetooth phone that will not register with any of there Bluetooth headsets, its just a generic type of signal. Your always going to find the software the companies use will change so you will always be waiting I'm afraid.

Early bluetooth devices often did have issues talking to each other if they weren't from the same manufacturer, but this should no longer be the case..... Anything that is Bluetooth 2.0 compliant should be fine talking to other bluetooth devices....
