We've been looking for a printer that will print on greeting cards but with not much luck. Anyone have any experience?

Most colour printers will print greetings cards, however you will need good graphics software, ones that will allow this (that;s most of them) will have templates built in to the installation that you can just modify as needed. I know most printers say a max sheet of 80 - 100gsm, for the odd sheet or two it's safe to go to around 160gsm, and you'll need that for a good card.
