Hi all Last week we bought a Hanns.G HG221A 22" monitor. We were in the process of getting a new PC so plugged the monitor into the old dinosaur we were using at the time and it worked fine. Now, last night the new PC went in but the monitor won't work with it - have plugged in our 19" LG monitor (which was what we were using before the Hanns.G) and that's working fine. The green power light is coming on on the Hanns.G and we know all the 'stuff' is there in the background it's just like the monitor isn't quite being able to switch on enough for us to get a picture. Because there is no picture on the monitor I'm not able to adjust any settings or see my way to get to control panel - have tried the Hanns.G website but that's as useless as the 2 page 'guide' to using the thing! Am running on Windows XP (genuine copy). Has anyone got any ideas??? Thanks in advance!

If you can, plug the old monitor in then change the desktop resolution settings (Maybe to something higher). Quickly swap the monitors over and see if the picture will come up on the new monitor with the different resolution? If not the the picture will swap back after about 20 seconds I believe (Make sure you press 'Apply' not 'Ok' when changing the resolution).

1) If it came with a driver CD/DVD load them up with the old monitor attached and then restart the PC with the new monitor attached. 2) Power off the PC and the monitor. With the new monitor plugged in, restart the PC. At the point the PC is being restarted the resolution settings are ignored. As we have established that the graphics card works fine becauase it powers the other monitor, if the nothing shows up on the screen when you restart the PC then the monitor is defective. 3) If all is well until Windows starts and then it goes blank, restart XP in safe mode and change the resolution there. Here are some instructions.........
