Hi I have made an excel sheet but when i try to open it now it comes up with the message Unrecognisable format, when I press OK it comes up with a load of wierd code. I suspect is corrupted, is there any way of recovering it?

There are software tools for recovering corrupt Excel files. One such tool is ExcelFIX Excel File Recovery 5.41 by Cimaware Software Good luck, Jake, Courtesy of : Excel Expert UK Macro Expert UK

There is of course yet another reason - and one that WILL give you those "unrecognised file format" error messages. All it is is that other programmes are able to put a spreadsheet into one of their files, so when it's saved it's saved as that file format, not excel. It may well be worth your while checking if this is the case before you delete the file (the last 3 letters of the file address should give you an idea).

Themisive is right. For example, if you created the original file in one version of Excel and then tried to open it in using an older version from a different machine, you would get such an error. Jake Courtesy of www.OfficeSoftworks.com www.OfficeSoftworks.co.uk
