Yeah that's the one. I thought CNET might have had a review of it, but couldn't find anything.

It seems to have fallen off the radar - there were rumours about a release this week but nothing's happened yet.

That said because it's been such a sudden announcement I doubt CNET have managed to get their hands on one yet, because I've never even seen any coverage of a hands-on with the device from anywhere.

Recently, I had to choose mobile and went for the HTC Magic and have never regretted it. The Hero is supposed to be even better so go with that. The N97 still using Symbian which was never meant for touch screen.

I'd go for the HTC hero I always tend to avoid phones that slide open. I find it can be a pain when they slide open just because you have taken it out of your pocket.

It is a small thing but I find it so annoying.

Hi,

I have used both N97 and HTC hero. With my personal experience, I would advice you to go for HTC hero.

i like phones with a physical keyboard not a touch screen one. the n97 does have a keyboard but is not a full qwerty keyword. the numeric keys are missing so you always have to press a function key.

the htc hero does have the advantage of being a muti spec device.

htc hero

well, it technically is a full QWERTY, because it has all the characters. It's just not a 5-row QWERTY, instead it's a 4-row thus the numbers have to be added as function keys

Well Im confused too. DONT WHATEVER U DO get the N97. Im on my 3rd handset and all have had broken speakers. The software is crap - if youve ever used i-tunes Nokia Music will seem so amateurish. And SLOW. Ive had multiple problems with the n97 and am trying desperately to find a replacement phone that ticks all my boxes. It simply wasnt ready for general release. Nokia's sales dept seem to be leading the R&D dept - cart before the horse stuff. If you need any confirmation on why not to buy the n97 go to any respectable forum and u will see all the reasons not to mounting up. BTW Ive been a Nokia user for 10 yrs and have no grudge against them but anyone in the industry will tell u theyve taken their eye off the ball lately. In my local Vodaphone half the sales staff wont sell you an N97 and in my local CW store theyre making purchasers sign a disclaimer saying they have been informed that the handset may have multiple problems.

I personally prefer to the HTC as I have had the chance to use both phones. Especially as the HTC uses the android application which is highly flexible. I was using Google Streetview the other day for where I was standing in London. As I moved forward it traced my enviroment...very cool. That said I had to get a sim free phones version because I wanted my own network.
