Quick update - got straight on the phone to three this morning and within 15 minutes the customer options team agreed to give me a PAC. The sad thing is that I have been with three since they started but now I am travelling a lot with my job this will really have an affect on my bills so I can't afford to stay with them.

Thank you all for your help because without this forum I would not have known where to start.

There's always hope...

Glad to be of help. All these companies need to get their fingers out of their backsides when it comes to roaming. Most of them have coverage in other countries so why are they charging us more to use them? Even if they are using other companies cell towers, I bet there are some deals so they are not paying that much to use them

Johny i'm glad you got it sorted.
There is a template letter that you could use in the short term if anyone is having the same issues over the phone. However like the rest of us, keep calling back and you should succeed.

The template letter can be found as an attachment to this thread: http://www.sheffieldzone.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4287

Hi, I went through the long phone call with 3 today to be told that I was 2 days too late to take advantage because I recieved the txt from them on 15th May and had 30 days making it 14th June. So they point blank refused. Anyone else had this experience or got any advice?

It does not matter hong ago it was. They changed terms and conditions so you can leave and they have to accept it. Just keep trying

Thanks for your reply. Is there a legal basis for that. I mean does their 30 days to respond clause not stand up. What would be the way to get that through to the advisor. All the one I spoke to would do is keep repeating that legally I had gone over the 30 days and it would cost me 200 quid to be released. Any help greatly received!

Well I don't confess to knowing the laws inside out but it looks like cc84 got out of his 4 hrs after you tried, so some of the agents must be allowing it

I will say one thing, if you not bothered about your Pac code, ring them, tell them you are closing your contract as from now due to them changing their T&C's, whatever they tell you, just tell them, no, this is happening and consider this your 30 day notice. If they keep trying to argue or refuse, tell them, you are not taking no for an answer and they either agree or your going to hang up but either way, you have given them notice and that is that. Once you have done this, cancel the direct debits. When they ring you because they can't take any money, just tell them you have cancelled your contract and why.

Don't listen to any threats because I bet they will not persue it any further, imagine the heat they would get from Ofcom over this.

Now, saying that, this is what I would have done in your situation, be aware though that there is a small chance they may persue so think hard before taking that route,

I didn't receive a text from them. When I rang, they checked then told me they had not sent me a text and only people who use 3 like home in the past have received it. My reply was, "So what? Have you or haven't you made a major change to your terms and conditions since my contract was taken out?", they replied "well, yes", i replied "Well that allows me to be released now, just because i have not used the service, does not mean I wasn't going to use it later in the year. I was going to travel across Europe in July and I am now giving notice that I am terminating my contract"

If they keep telling you that you need to receive the test, just tell them that it makes no difference, they have changed the T&C's and legally, they have to accept that you can now leave.

Nate, what have you started? LOL
