I think most companies can be bad and a few people have mentioned Vodafone, but at least your talking to someone in the UK and not Bangalore.

Your totally right, they lie and just wont let go, I really did get to the point where they would say something or ask me another question and I would just respond with "can you now cancel this contract", I think when it got to that point, I said it about 5 times until they eventually buckled. The worst thing you can do is swear at them or get nasty because then they can drop the call and you have to start all over again.

Talk about hard work.
Had to cal back twice today but on the second go (3rd overall) I managed to get the cancellation department to back down. They offered me a £5 discount per month on the contract and then said would I stay for more off per month.

I said I'd stay for £1 per month on both contracts.
She promptly offered me my PAC codes without hesitation.

We went through the charade of asking me if I'm going to the countries listed and I said that I was going to Ireland in July and Italy in August on business. I don't think there is anything else she could have said and I just then asked again to be released from my contract.

She gave me the PAC codes (and I have them via text) and I confirmed that there would be no early release fee. She confirmed this and now I'm free to go elsewhere. Thanks for the advice everyone, keep challenging and you will get there. I will never touch 3 again.

My advice is to be very polite. I was all 'please' and 'thank you for your help' and they were generally alright.

Glad it worked in the end mate... do you think Nate is on 3's hitlist now? LOL

It is hard work but damn worth it in the end. Funny enough, I rang them to end my mobile broadband contract with them today as it has come to an end and they have given me a free Compaq laptop, upped the allowance to 5GB and a new dongle which has duel aerials with speed of 7.2mb/s for £20, so I have stayed with them for that

I wonder if you could use the same excuse to get out of a 3 broadband contract ;-)

Not that I have one, but my dear old mum does and I dare she isn't happy with it. Either way, I'm now well pleased to be shot of them. Yee haw... happy days!

At the risk of boring everyone... I have just started the cancellation process with 3 and had my induction one hour phone call which got me nowhere. I am waiting for a manager to call me back in two hours.

They are telling me that because I have not used 3 like home in the last twelve months, my contract has not been effected. I have used all of the information from you all ond stuck to my guns. We reached a stalemate and they told me that they can not cancel without a penalty which I obviously refused....

Any further advice at this stage greatly accepted because I know quite a few of you have been to battle already!

Thanks.

There's not much more I can add really. They took the exact same stance with me, you just have to stick at it. I took the line that I had not used it in the past, but intend to in the future. Make sure you mention you are going on holiday in July and will be affected.

Good luck, let me know how you get on.

Just keep hounding them and say you are going on holiday to Europe soon. Threaten to take them to small claims court if worst comes to worst.

How long until they send someone to shut Nate up? lol

Hi mate,

Right, the reason we got out of our contracts is because there was a major change to the terms and conditions of service. This gives you the legal right to end early with no penalties, it doesn't matter if you have used 3 at home or not. I had never used it and told them that I was going to travel in July (the 3@home ends last day of June). I told them the legally they had to allow me to leave or I was about to take the legal route (and also tell the world what has happened)

It makes no odds, for my 2nd contract which was only 3 months old, I told them that the only reason I took the contract was for 3@home because I was going on holiday in July ;-)

Thanks again - on hold now to cancellation team and have been for 40 minutes. Will let you know the outcome. Only thing is that they close at 8pm but I am hoping being in a queue means I will get dealt with this evening.
