Carphone Warehouse Unlimited web bolt-on FUP of 200MB!!!

Just got myself an iPhone on Pay&Go as I've still got 6 months on my contract with o2 via Carphone Warehouse.

So I got home, called customer services to get the Unlimited Web Bolt On...Until I was told there is a Fair Usage Policy of 200MB

How come on O2 the FUP is much higher than Carphone Warehouse? (1GB isn't it?)

I told the customer services person I'll not enable data and I'll cancel my contract in December as a result of such an appalling FUP. Any other Carphone Warehouse users thinking of getting an iPhone on P&G just be aware that you won't have the decent FUP that genuine o2 customers get.

Apart from the extra bulk, it's almost worth carrying my old phone around and using the iPhone just for data on the P&G sim.

Do you actually use 200MB per month? I'd be surprised if I use 50MB and I'm on the internet non-stop

Whether I will even use 200MB, I'm not sure, but when I read about some iPhone users getting through 1GB+ a month I start to worry about going over the limit easily.

Just out of curiosity, when you say you barely use 50MB is that on an iPhone 3G and how often do you use the maps feature?

I've done search for usage, but the figures vary from some barely reaching 200MB over several months to others using 500MB+ a month. With the CPW saying they'll charge £3 per MB over 200MB I wouldn't fancy a £300 phone bill.

You'd easy go over that limit downloading apps and such. I'm pretty sure the internet tarriff O2 offer for the iPhone has a really high cap otherwise it'd be stupid. Their standard internet package for other phones is something like 1 or 2GB as well.

I'm on T-Mobile with Unlimited Web'n'Walk, with a FUP of 1GB. I have yet to go over this limit, or even come close, despite using the web on my phone pretty frequently, for Twitter and GMail and the like.

If I had an iPhone though I'd be more concerned, especially if my cap was only 200MB!

I mainly use the Internet when I'm in the house so do it over WIFI. Only really use it when I'm out and about for twitter and facebook. If you go to Settings, General, Usage it will tell you how much data you have sent over and received since the last reset, I've only used 80MB since April.
