Hi everyone!
Welcome to the laptops forum -- a place for all to discuss matters associated with portable computers.

We don't care if it's about design, hardware, software, or if you just want to tell us how your laptop coped with having a milkshake spilled over it. Feel free to leave your thoughts, no matter how random.

Myself and the rest of the geek community are only too happy to exchange ideas with you.

Hi

I need a DESKTOP PC which will enable me to work with Autocad 2007.
My current Desktop PC is about three years old and suffers from the hiccoughs when working with large blocks or seizes up altogether.
I will probably elect to buy a Dell but don't know which one, any help you can offer will be appreciated.
I do also use the latest version of Microsoft Flight simulator so the graphics need to be good

Regards

Hi Rory
Think you and the geek community can help me on this one?
I recently connected my connected my mobile phone to my laptop and on to the internet using my mobile as the modem.

Internet works fine, nothing special however i cant seem to sign on to any of my network programs like msn or paltalk.(I can only sign on msn web based via my browser but not the downloaded version) and paltalk keeps giving my the messege "close paltalk and check your internet conection or firewall"wink.

I have tried every thing from completly taking the firewall down but still wont work.. scraching my head any ideas will be nice. thank you

Hi Rory, I need help with buying a laptop. The specs I'm looking for are 2GB RAM, atleast 160 GB HDD, intefrated wifi, webcam and bluetooth, 1.8 to 2 GHZ, windows vista home premium, 14.1 to 15.4 inch screen, 3-4 USB ports, an HDMI port, a DVD writer and a remote control. The Dell Inspiron 1525 has everything but a decent enough media card to run Vista, and the XPS 1530 reviews say the slot loading drive won't run mini CDs and DVDs, while the HP dv6700t has a processor speed of only 1.66 Ghz,(I'd like atleast 1.8) and the Vaio CR series doesn't come with a remote and is expensive. I will be using the laptop mainly for personal use and to work from home, as well as listening to music and playing a few games. All the models I've listed here lack something or the other. I have a budget of Rs 45000 to Rs 55000. Can you give me any suggestions? I couldn't zero down on anything in Toshiba either. I'd really appreciate some help, because I've been racking my brains over this for a couple of weeks now and time's running out!!

Hi
1st time on one of these things so please bear with me.
I have a problem with a Tiny PC bought about 8 years ago and it is using XP
The problem is that when I press the power button the PC tries to start up but does not "work"
It allows me to access a page using F8 or F12 repeatably but then it gets stuck.
I have tried the restore disc but nothing happens.
And the only way I can stop the PC from "running" is to unplug and remove the battery.
Any clues ?
