Hello! I have a problem that I hope you can help me with... My Xp laptop switches on, gets to the Windows Xp loading page, sits for a minute then restarts itself. This situation then just loops. Can start it up in safe mode but can't seem to find out what the problem is... Any ideas? Any help would be greeted with a resounding hurrah!

Hi,

sorry to hear your problem, can explain what happens when try to go into safe mode?

Have carried out any recent updates/changes since you started getting problems.

Looking at your description xp behaves like when there is a hardware issue, have you had any other symptons.

One finally quicky but did you have zone alarm installed?

No problems going into safe mode, just select it from the F8 menu on start up. No zone alarm installed either, am I up the laptop creek without a paddle? Thanks for the reply btw.

Have you tried a system restore to an earlier date?

Was there any new hardware or software you had installed since you last successfully booted your machine?

In Safe Mode you could try uninstalling any recent software, or remove any new hardware from Device Manager.

If you still can't get in then you will probably have to try a repair installation.

Hmm... You sure no one has played a prank on you and set up a continous boot?

I did it to one of my friends one time.... I think household hacker did a video on it.

If not you may have to do a repair install or restore to factory settings.
