Are you going to buy the new Apple MacBook Air?

It's been rumoured for months and now the secret is out. The new Apple MacBook Air is the thinnest laptop in the world, but is it enough to convince you to part with your cash? What do you think -- is £1,200 too much to pay for a laptop nowadays?

Not necessarily, if it's a whacking great 17-inch desktop replacement with a graphics card. But £1,200 for something that doesn't have an optical drive and only one USB port is utterly preposterous. I admire that Jobs said, "Right, see this envelope? I want to pull a laptop out of it at the next Macworld. If you can't build it, you're fired." But I'm sure as hell not paying that much for it. What does it do that the Asus Eee PC doesn't? And whatever that is, is it worth £1,000?

No way. The MacBook Pro is much better value for money, considering everything you get included.

...plus, it has much less chance of getting lost.

I've got an Asus Eeepc which I just carry everywhere, smaller lighter (though not as thin, granted) than the Air, and a year old Sony C2Z, 1.66G Core2, 13.3 in screen, 2Gb RAM (sound familiar?) but with a bigger (120Gb) faster (5400rpm) HD, and a DVDRW (it does weigh over 4lbs though). Total cost? £1220. £20 more than Apples latest hype and I have two computers, the largest of which is still pretty portable (and to be honest i could have saved a couple of hundred pounds by not buying Sony).
Basically Jobs can sod off, the Eeepc is the coolest thing to happen in portable computing and it looks better than anything Apple have ever come up with, AND it is cheap as chips, so there.

Very expensive for what it is, and the lack of removable battery and rubbish normal battery life (according to early reviews) makes it impractical. The ssd is nice though :D

No way will i ever get the MacBook Air. I think Mr Jobs can add "the world thinnest laptop" to his line of failed products (possible remake - "MacBook Air Two"wink. It is however one of the best looking laptops i have ever seen... but totally not worth the money
