Tell us: Where do you get your music from?

Curiosity better stay the hell away from my cat because I have to ask the ultimate question: are you a thieving rotten pirate or a good little cherub who pays for his music like they Mummy always said?

Personally I don't buy new CDs unless it's an EMI release or released by an independent label; and I don't buy music online, unless it's from eMusic, all of which is DRM-free.

I buy CDs released by major labels second-hand (you'd be surprised how quickly people sell them on after they're released...), rip them, store them away and go to live gigs and festivals. This is a small way to support bands without supporting the existing business model of mainstream music.

So what, pray tell, do you do?

I mostly buy CD's and rip them to my massive Windows Media player archive. Also a neat little trick is to rent CD's from a library (mine is £1 for a week). I then rip them to my computer and they go on my MP3 saving £9. I quite like the look of 7digital which requires no software download but it lacks rarer albums of less known artists.

It's my first post so I don't want to be bad :-)
So I buy CD's in the store and then rip 'em to my computer, after copy it to my car etc. ;-) After that my friends come to me and say "Wow! You have a new disk! give it to me!" and from that moment i don't have that disk :-D
But trully saying some times I use mp3 Search Engines like Beemp3.com to find song that interested me...

Please dont tell me off, but money for me is very tight, and as much as would love to buy my own cd, I cant, so what I do is use lime wire, saying that though, I havnt used it for ages because my memory is low, but I cant be dishonest and pretend am good, coz am not, am really really naughty.

For all my legal downloads, I use utorrent, limewire is riddled with viruses and edits your computers system files. Also even after an uninstall it never goes away frown

For music I mostly buy Cds from the shop, you can't beat their quality.

If I'm extremely stoked about a new release (something by Muse, Bad Religion etc.) then I'll go out, buy it and rip it onto my PC lossless (such things deserve so much MB per album)

Most of the time I'll buy stuff over iTunes - but that's mostly when i can't find what i'm looking for over Azureus, or if what i DO find is actually awful quality
