Hi guys, just like to start off by saying merry Christmas to everyone.

Santa decided to pop an iPod touch 2nd gen 16GB in my stocking this year. So, I thought great, got on iTunes, put my music on and started listening to it with the included earphones. Everything was fine, until it came to hitting town to hunt down some bargains. The headphones kept falling out, meaning I couldn't listen to my music anymore frown.

So, I need a new pair of headphones. I have a budget of around £40, they need to be robust and have good sound quality. I would also like them to be on ear (see this)

The only pair I have really seen are here, so I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions.

They look alright, but I only really have experience with in-ear headphones.

A word of advice, never buy headphones from the Apple store. They rip you off (Sennheiser CX 300 in-ear headphones are about £35 on there, and you can buy them for less than £20 from well-known and respected websites).

Thanks for that, I was planning on getting my 'phones from the apple store.

I have to say the on-ear types of headphones are my least favourites, and I don't recommend them that often. Sennheiser do some decent pairs, though.

What draws you to this form factor over other models?

I have tried various earphones and they have all broken/been sqaused easily. Also I want the new ones to be noise reducing(muffed), and robust.

Hey guys, I was about to create a topic regarding headphone advice too but I guess I'll just post in here for the help. I too recently purchased an iPod Touch, and I'm looking for some good quality headphones, the Ear Bud type ones. I have many Over Ear ones but they are now useless to me since I started wearing glasses. They tend to push my frames into my skin, which causes pain after some time. I would greatly appreciate some advice on finding some affordable yet better than average Ear Bud headphones, my knowledge in this subject is very basic so I don't trust my own instincts for this one.

Perhaps consider these from Audio Technica, these higher-performing PXC 350s from Sennheiser, or the top-of-the-range PXC 450s from Sennheiser.

I've made a few round-ups you may benefit from reading.

1) Best Sennheiser headphones
2) Best headphones for iPods
3) Best headphones for under £80

Thanks Nate, I'll give them a read now.

Also Nate, looking at the last link, are those headphones the type that go right into your ear, or just rest inside like the old school ones? I really hate sticking the former ones in my ear, so I'm looking for some good old fashioned ones that doesn't feel like another form of anal probing.

They go right in, provide a seal, and block out external noise. They're well worth getting used to.
