Spill:

The new S9 features the market leading audio and video quality synonymous with Cowon along with a potent combination of stunning ergonomic aesthetics, a 16.9 million colour 3.3” AMOLED display, capacitive touch-screen, inbuilt G-Sensor, and Bluetooth for wireless earphones.

Using capacitive touch control, menu navigation is transformed into a futuristic dance between man and machine, with every touch instantly and intuitively transformed into action. The S9 maintains Cowon’s reputation as the audiophile’s choice with support for all major music formats including MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV and APE files. Backed up a roaring, pounding, aural orgasm of 60mW sonic power output (30mW + 30mW), you’ll notice beats and rhythms that you never thought existed, with power suitable to drive the most demanding of headphones. With battery life of 40 hours (8 hours for video), the S9 will keep your player pumping out tunes for 2 weeks of average usage without needing a charge.

I don't know if this is reliable, but on some Korean sites:

News: Cowon will come out MID-DECEMBER. (korean release)
This SHOULD be the official date as it comes directly from Cowon themselves.

BBE+ is going to be applied for the first time in the world to Cowon S9. Obviously the BBE+ is an advancement over BBE.

EDIT: anyhow, even if the info was true..Cowon has a bad habit to say things and then don't back them up in terms of release dates...so...let's just wait and see. smile

I've been in touch with the UK distributor, and they don't even have any in as first samples from the production line yet. These are released way before final models are sent to journalists, and are the early models I get sent to look at ahead of other sites. The fact that we haven't got these yet doesn't suggest a 2008 launch in the UK, and teh distributor is disappointed to admit it's looking like a new year release.

not to sound bothersome, but has there been any news lately?
It seems that the mid-december date is sticking, so do you think there's
much chance of you still recieving a unit prior to release?

I will, but as the S9 is looking to be an early 09 release in the UK, my model will be delayed as well. I'll post updates as soon as I have any.

what exactly does "2 weeks of average usage" mean?

it means if you only use it to listen to music on the bus/train or other journeys like that then it should last you about 2 weeks without needing to be recharged

Hi Nate. smile
Any news on the S9?
Finally the S9 is shown on the Korean Cowon site, and it looks like there are some samples ready to be reviewed in the UK. Are those just rumors? Do you know something about it?

Thanks.

It should be out in the next week or so in South Korea. As I've mentioned before, international shipping is delayed until probably the new year. Engadget made a post recently about this too, though I could've told them the news weeks ago!!
