I've spent two days stunning myself with pix from a new Panasonic DMC-TZ7. Brilliant stuff indeed. But (it's not the end of the world, unless you're heading there) can I find a genuine Panasonic spare battery? No. With the current version of firmware (v1.2) no substitute is permissable, and no orginal is available. That's ridiculous for such a brilliant piece of kit. It could well put people off buying something truly astounding. Please, contact Panasonic and urge action if you have one of these cameras. And, Panasonic, if you're listening - Do something. And charge rather less than £40 for it!!

I purchased the TZ7 back in August for my dads birthday and had the same problem sourcing the geniune Panasonic battery for it, even on line it was hard to find a wide selection of sellers that had them (one you could trust anyhow)

In the end i managed to get one from Jessops (in September) which had one in stock in their shop for £40.
Even though Jessops online it was out of stock and qouting £50 for the same battery!

So you could always try them if you have not already, that if you are within range of a Jessops store.

The only other place i was contemplating would of been Amazon at the time, but it was a third party seller on there.

Panasonic seem to be very coy in the UK with its distibution of it's accecories making it very hard for consumers to get hold of the official products in the first place, as it is the same for their leather cases for the camera.

The TZ does take really crisp clear pics and if it was not for me wanting a smaller compact camera the Sony TX1 that had a range of new features like panorama shooting (as i went to Grand Canyon in September) ii would of for sure opted for the TZ7 my self.

Good luck finding a battery ; )
