I was given this coolpix 8700 camera a month ago and am still learning its functions. Can anyone tell me why all of a sudden it won't transfer pictures. I have had no problems up to now. USB plugged in to camera and USB port on PC [with camera off] set to view mode. Switched on and faced with blank view screen. Top LCD screen shows as normal an animated rectangular box. The PC give audible signal of connection but nothing else not even on the bottom status bar. So menu for transfer not showing. Disconnect after process of safe removal screen then come on showing transfer screen menu. Would this indicate a USB fault? I've tried another camera on the USB port and it worked so it's not the port.. Hopefully it is a wrong press on a camera button as I cannot afford the astronomical repairs costs charged by some repaires even looking at it from last experience £70. in which case sadly it will be binned as un-economical judging by sellers prices on ebay. Many thanks greengrass

Why do not you try to take the memory card out and plug into a card reader to your computer? Is it an internal memory camera? Wolu
