I would like to find a cheap and cheerful camera with a gizmo that I can plug into my laptop (?USB) to transfer and use the photos as a screen saver. I am not into photography at all (buy postcards on holiday and the last single-use kodak was in the drawer for 5 years) but would like to have family and pets on screen without having to get the local chemist to process first. Or should I get a new mobile, which is used only when the car breaks down and is pay as you go? Thoughts and suggestions much appreciated.

Definitely don't expect a camera to compete with a proper model.

If you want Canon cameras they're good too but I've always done well with Casio Exilims. They are very fast to snap with and browse pics.

I currently have an Exilim s880 camera and most of my friends have gone for Exilims too.

You can stick with Kodak for a camera if you like, Should go well with a Kodak printer. The best site I found to compare the various Kodak models on one page is home printers.

Looks like Cnet dont think my Exilim is that great though:
