Printer Driver Installation

I have been trying to install a printer driver for my sister-in-law via Team Viewer and am having no success whatsoever. What ought to be a very simple task is proving to be impossible. Team Viewer works fine so the problem lies elsewhere. Her computer is running Windows 98SE and has an Athlon 1.2Mhz processor, with about 1.5MB of RAM. Her printer is a Lexmark Z640 and it ran OK on her previous computer which was much older than her present one.
To begin, when I open up 'My Computer' on her computer, the Lexmark Driver Disk is clearly shown as being in the 'D' or 'E' drive depending on which one we have used.
Going to 'Add a Printer' via the Control Panel brings up the New Hardware Wizard. Once I have clicked on 'Have Disk' the installation instructions from the New Hardware Wizard require the selection of the drive containing the disk. The list from which the choice must be made shows 'C' drive and 'D' drive but not 'E' drive. Obviously the answer would seem to be to use the 'D' drive, but 'D' drive is shown bare, with no mention of the Lexmark disk, even though the disk is in place and can be seen in the 'My Computer' window.
I have tried the easier way of simply inserting the Lexmark Disk and following the installation instructions from there, but that results in a message saying that 'lxdainst.drv' could not be found.
Please can anyone offer any solution to this problem?

Hi,

I think this problem may be caused by team viewer, why not try other remote access software, such as ultravnc, it is a Free remote control software to access distant computers.

One suggest

1. download the drivers from lexmark either to your machine or the remote one (yours sisters)

2. If you download to your machine the send file to sister machine using teamviewer

3. if downloaded to remote, run installer and follow instructions

4. Plug printer and test print

hope this helps.
