We hope you like our new forums -- please let us know here if you have any problems, suggestions for new features or even (shock, horror), praise!

So far one change id like to see is a reply box below the posts, like on this sailing forum i use, http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/forum/ i find it useful as sometimes you want to reply to many peoples previous posts in one, and it is useful to have them open on the same page so you can structure it properly if your making an argument, or on a simpler level just want to remember the name of someone who you agreed with when you dont necessarily want to quote.

Thanks for your feedback Kiddle. I can't promise anything right now because our tech guys shout at me if I promise stuff, but I'll definitely look into it.

Very nice forum, good job guys smile

Only niggles are that it would be good to see a desktop (maybe merge with laptop) + games console section as you do review these things after all.

I like the forums and im sure there will be plenty of entertaining topics once more people visit the forums. I particularly like how it has been integrated into the main site and not just linked to an invision board type solution. The editorial staff seem friendly and well involved.

I would consider putting some information about the latest topic created or updated beneath the name of each forum on the top level page. For example, a visitor might not always read the laptops or digital cameras forums because of time or interests, but might on occasion see something of interest to them that they would not have gone looking for or alternatively see a request for help about something they can answer.

Also, any chance of some smilies? =)

Keep up the good work

All I can say is finally! I must admit that most of the time I have went to cnet.com simply because CNET didnt have a UK based forum. It'g so good to see cnet.co.uk growing up!

yes I like it, so it`s a thumbs out from me.
The thing is tho-and sorry to ask- I`m trying to find out if you review software (comodo pro) and I wanted to know what you thought of it? I can`t find any reviews/ comments etc. for it on site tho?
Cheers smile

There are a few things that annoy me about the forum.

1. No private messaging
2. It seems to change its mind about how many unread messages there are in a particular forum
3. On a multi-page thread, if you type the page number and hit return, it takes you back to the main forum.

These are silly little problems but would make the forum so much better. The features above are even available in free, open source forums that I have used on sites in the past and this being a tech site, you should be in the premier league of this kind of thing.

Also, it's fine having smilies but it would be better if they were listed somewhere so you don't have to guess what key combos will activate them.

That's my 2p worth

Can we have a last post button or even a last page button for long threads like the Tip Of The Day. Also i agree with Red Mozzy wink

Thanks

Just come up with an idea, figured this would be the place to put it.

It would be nice to have a "Mark all topics as read" button of some sort. I use multiple computers to access the site and often threads that i've read appear as unread. Just saying, it would be nice to have the option.

I really enjoy the CNET.co.uk forums, but one thing I've noted about the CNET.co, forums is if you are interested in a subject, you can get notification of new replies sent to you, but apparently on the CNET.co.uk forums you can't.

Is that they're still to young, or what?

Great forums!!

But it would be nice to have a Samsung tech person just like the US
website,he's a credit to the cnet forums, unfortunately he can't answer any questions regarding UK models.
With the new Samsung 8 series coming out shorty,i'm sure it would be very popular.

thanks

Only just joined but from what I have read so far it seems very good. At least the posts are legible and not written in text speak like a few forums I subscribe to, the odd spelling mistake you can put up with but when you can;t read any of the thread Grrrrrrrr.
By the way How do you access the smileys???
