hay, i have been offered a job doing pro mos for a pretty high end nightclub. only one prob im post production. for the last four months i have been researching what kind of camera i need for this environment and everyone i have asked on and off the internet cannot seem to agree on a short list of cameras let alone a specific one. heres the deal i feel i want to stick with dv for archive purposes i want to use the camera for short docs and interviews so its gota have an external mic iv got about £3000 to spend on camera, mics, tripod i have currently converted to mac and am using adobe and final cut i have been recommended that the lower the lux the better but that this can be deceiving and that actually i need low lux and 3ccd for the club lights and shadows. i was thinking of a semi pro cam but from filming in this environment with my little and very old handy cam i think even the light weight semi pros may be too big and intimidating for interviews. i have found that when people see the little cam they dont think tv or professional which means they are more likely to give an interview. also mean that transporting in the clubs and filming from within the crowd i need something small that i can keep close. been looking at the sony dcr-trv95oe sony dcr-vx200e canon gl-2e-xm2 panasonic nv-gs500 im used to the quality in lowlight of a pd 170 but as that was on loan iv had to give it up at any rate it would of been to big. anyone got any recommendations or experience in this area?
